Apprenticeship Benefits - First Year
As a part-time employee in the Apprenticeship Program the following benefits are effective on the Friday after the Thanksgiving of the Apprentice's first year with the exception of Holiday pay, which is immediate.
Personal and Sick Time
The apprentice will accrue 24 hours personal or sick time their first year and 48 hours each year thereafter.
Apprenticeship Benefits - Full Time
Once the apprentice's first day of full-time employment, which is in June of their 2nd year, they are eligible for Health, Dental, Life Insurance, Long-term and Short-term Disability. Once an apprentice reaches the age of 21 years old, they are eligible to participate in Blum's 401K Savings Plan.

Office co-pay - general / specialist $20 / $40
Emergency room co-pay $150
Deductible per benefit year $500
Four tier prescription benefit $10 / $30 / $45 / spec. drugs
Dental Insurance
Includes two routine cleanings and a $50 deductible for other services per benefit year.
401K Savings Plan
Administered by Fidelity, employees 21 years of age or older can contribute 1-15% of their pay into a 401K plan. Blum's current contribution is 67 cents for every dollar up to 6%. Employees are vested after three years.
Paid Holidays: Holiday pay is four hours/holiday the first year xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxand eight hours thereafter.

Life Insurance & Long-term Disability
Life insurance and long-term disability are company paid benefits. Life insurance is one times base annual salary. Long-term disability is 66 2/3% of monthly income.
Short-term Disability
This is an elected benefit that pays 60% of weekly income in case of short term disability. There is a seven day waiting period.
Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
Dependent care - eligible after 90 days
Healthcare - eligible after 1 year employment
Paid Vacation
The apprentice will accrue one week of vacation in the first year.
After the first year, the apprentice will accrue vacation on the same scale as a full-time employee.
2-9 years: 3 weeks
10-19 years: 4 weeks
20+ years: 5 weeks
